Alex Dandashly, DPM
Physician and Surgeon
of the
Foot and Ankle
Dr. Alex Dandashly immigrated to the United States with his family from Lebanon at the age of seventeen. Living in the Detroit metro area he calls Michigan his home. Ever since he was a young boy, Dr. Dandashly’ dream was to become a first-generation doctor. From an early age, education, hard work and strong values were emphasized at home which translated to his strong work ethic and concern for others less fortunate.
Dr. Dandashly received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical physics from Wayne State University, where he excelled in research and publications. While at Wayne State University, he spent time volunteering at the Detroit Medical Center, where he developed an appreciation for giving back to communities in need.
Dr. Dandashly received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Ohio, graduating in the top 10% of his class. Post graduate training brought him back home to Detroit to complete a rigorous three-year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery focusing on reconstructive rear foot/ankle training at Detroit Medical Center/Wayne State University and Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak. He received extensive and specialized training in foot and ankle trauma, adult and pediatric reconstructive surgery, and diabetic limb salvage. Other rotations during his training included internal medicine, infectious diseases, vascular surgery, emergency medicine, general surgery, and orthopedic trauma.
Dr. Dandashly has special surgical interest in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine, flatfoot, fracture, arthroscopy and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. He maintains professional memberships with the American Podiatric Medical Association, Michigan Podiatric Medical Association, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
Dr. Dandashly is excited to be a full-time physician and surgeon joining mentors Drs. Lefkowitz, Stock and Ward at both the Ferndale and Milford offices. He is devoted to serving the community and takes great pride in treating patients as his own family.
Outside of work, Dr. Dandashly enjoys simple things such as traveling, spending quality time with family and friends and trying different cultural cuisines. He loves spending time with his son and his better half, wife Sara, who is also a pharmacist. Dr. Alex and Sara together share great pride and passion helping others with their respective expertise in medicine to improve the health of their patients.
